Chuchu and Edward’s wedding day was one of vision, a focus of celebrating the love between one another, and an intent on being present in the moment as they celebrated with their loved ones. It was quite literally a perfect day, made all the more wonderful by choosing the incredible Lanikuhonua as the venue for their wedding celebration! I absolutely adore this venue for a variety of reasons, many of which I talk about in my venue feature for Lanikuhonua, and I cannot wait to share highlights from Chuchu and Edward’s day at this incredible space!
The Start of Their Wedding Day at Lanikuhonua
The day began with both Chuchu and Edward getting ready for their wedding day on location at Lanikuhonua. From the very beginning it was evident just how much thought and attention to detail went into their day. The two chose an amazing team of vendors to help bring their wedding vision to life, such as the stunning pastel flowers from Belle de Jour Floral Design. In the company of their wedding parties, Chuchu and Edward prepared for what was sure to be one of their favorite days ever!
One special moment the two were sure to include in their day was a traditional tea ceremony between them and their parents. This was one of a few wonderful traditions Chuchu and Edward were able to weave into their day that tied back to their Chinese heritage which I just adore!
After some quick portrait photos Chuchu and Edward split up again so that Chuchu could change into her wedding dress for their first look. Looking absolutely stunning, Chuchu tapped Edward on the shoulder to get him to turn around. He immediately let out THE biggest smile upon seeing her which was SO sweet! From there we gathered their wedding parties for some portrait photos on the gorgeous lawn of Lanikuhonua before it was time for their ceremony to get underway.
A Breathtaking Outdoor Ceremony
Chuchu and Edward couldn’t have asked for a more perfect summer day for their Oahu wedding. The subtle clouds in the sky gave the day a light and airy feel, perfectly matching the tone set by the pastel florals, swaying palm trees, and finally the bubble exit we’d get to enjoy at the end of the ceremony! Having ALL of their friends and family in attendance for their wedding meant the world to Chuchu and Edward. A wedding day is one of the only times anyone gets to experience this, and these two made it a priority to soak in every joyous moment of their day. After the two were officially newlyweds we took the opportunity to use the beautiful lawn space of Lanikuhonua for portraits with their family and wedding guests prior to the start of their reception.
An Epic Wedding Reception at Lanikuhonua
Chuchu, Edward, and their wedding guests would spend the majority of the evening underneath the beautifully decorated clear tent on the Lanikuhonua lawn. The afternoon began with some lovely speeches and toasts, but soon Chuchu, Edward and I had to sneak away for some sunset portraits on the beach. This not only meant we could document some of the magic of an Oahu sunset, but it also gave Chuchu and Edward a moment for just them. As fun as it is to celebrate your wedding with your friends and family, a moment alone is something I feel every couple needs on their day! It gives you both time to reflect, be present with one another, and get even more excited for the festivities to come!
Speaking of festivities, after our escapade to the beach, Chuchu changed into a beautiful red wedding dress for the remainder of the evening. This was yet another way the two tied in their Chinese heritage to their day, and WOW did they execute it perfectly! Chuchu, Edward, and their wedding guests went all out the rest of the evening, celebrating their love at Lanikuhonua by literally dancing the night away.
I’m so glad to have been able to document Chuchu and Edward’s wedding at Lanikuhonua! I love what these two created, and I love that they chose such a perfect space to celebrate at.
