I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Shaina and Connor’s sunset elopement and celebration at Lanikūhonua on Oahu and I am SO excited to share it all with you! You may remember these two from a previous blog of mine where I photographed Connor’s proposal to Shaina at Makapuu Lookout. Safe to say that their elopement was just as sweet and romantic as their proposal if not more so!

Their Intimate Wedding at Lanikūhonua

Shaina and Connor were looking to keep things simple for their wedding day, focusing on their love for one another as they move into this next chapter of life together. This is what led them to decide on a sunset elopement on Oahu at Lanikūhonua, with only their parents present for their day. With just Shaina, Connor, and their parents present the day was fully centered around them which was SO special for these two to experience.The day began with Shaina and Connor having a first look with one another, surrounded by the palm trees that line the grounds of Lanikūhonua. Having such an abundance of palm trees is what really makes Lanikūhonua feel like the tropical paradise that it is, and the perfect setting for their sunset elopement. After some portraits with both of Shaina and Connor’s parents it was time for their ceremony. 

The ceremony space we had at Lanikūhonua looked out over the ocean as the sun set, with a beautiful floral arch being the center piece for Shaina and Connor’s ceremony to take place. Needless to say the ceremony was GORGEOUS! After saying their “I Do’s” the two signed their wedding papers, took some portraits with their parents, and cut their wedding cake together before the three of us snuck off for some sunset portraits. Nothing beats a beachside sunset on Oahu, and that remains the case with Shaina and Connor’s portraits. From the photos on the grass surrounded by the palm trees, to our time walking around barefoot on the beach, these sunset portraits are some of my all time favs!

Lanikūhonua as an Oahu Wedding Venue

If you’ve been following me for a bit and keeping up with the blog, Shaina and Connor’s sunset elopement may not be the first time you’ve seen Lanikūhonua! The venue is one of my favorites on Oahu for a number of reasons, which is why it made my top 5 Oahu wedding venues list as well as received a full wedding venue feature article! From the multiple venue spaces suitable for all wedding sizes, the ease of travel and stay for your guests, and the overall feel and beauty of the venue, it’s not hard to see why this venue remains as one of my top choices for the island of Oahu.

Photographing Shaina and Connor’s sunset elopement on Oahu at Lanikūhonua was honestly SO much fun. It was an honor being a part of a day they created that centered fully around them and celebrating the love they share with those closest to them!
