There’s no shortage of options to choose from for your wedding day experience in the Hawaiian islands, many of which I’ve covered in previous articles! Whether it’s how to plan an intimate elopement in paradise, how to plan a full scale wedding, or feature pieces on some of my favorite wedding venues throughout the islands, I’ve put out a lot of resources for couples to use in their planning process. There is one area I’ve been neglecting though, which is what we’re here to fix today. This article is going to take a deep dive into one of my favorite wedding day experiences, celebrating your marriage at an Oahu wedding villa!

What is an Oahu Wedding Villa?

So what exactly is an Oahu wedding villa? What sets it apart from other wedding venues you can find on the island? Wedding villas, which are sometimes referred to as estates, are homes that have been designed and cared for to make them into an ideal location for an intimate wedding celebration. They usually include a gorgeous outdoor space for the ceremony and portrait photos to take place at. Oftentimes the house will be included in your venue rental, either for full day use, or full day and night use. This means the house can act as a getting ready space, and even a place for you to stay when it comes to certain villas. This style of wedding venue is relatively new, and more have been popping up all throughout the islands as their popularity has been rising!

Why Choose a Wedding Villa as Your Venue?

So why would someone choose one of these wedding villas over a more traditional wedding venue found on Oahu or one of the other islands? The beauty of wedding villas is that they give you the intimate feel and style of a backyard wedding without any near the amount of planning and preparation. The villas also come with a high end wedding venue feel to them thanks to the staff that is there to help with your day, and with how well kept and beautiful the spaces are in general.

I mentioned the staff of these Oahu wedding villas being a main draw in terms of these venues, and that’s for good reason! The small scale of these wedding venues and the weddings they host leads to a very intimate planning experience. Once you inquire with a wedding villa you’ll be assisted throughout the entire process of planning your wedding should you choose to book. From finding wedding vendors, planning out your timeline, and of course assistance with your decor and tableware, among other things. They really do work to provide a simple, stress free experience so that you can focus on enjoying your wedding rather than worrying about every detail, something I can really get behind!

Two Styles of Wedding Villas

Something I touched on briefly earlier is that there are ultimately two types of wedding villas throughout Oahu and the Hawaiian islands as a whole. There are those that function more like an intimate wedding venue with a day of rental, and then those that offer weekend stays for you and your guests in addition to providing that intimate wedding experience. Both are fantastic options, so it really comes down to what you’re looking to have your wedding getaway feel like.

My 3 Favorite Oahu Wedding Villas

Now that we have an idea of what a wedding villa is and why couples are choosing them for their wedding venue, let’s take a look at some of my favorites on the island of Oahu!

Loulu Palm

Our first wedding villa is a familiar one for anyone that’s been keeping up with my blog, Loulu Palm! Loulu Palm is a wedding villa on Oahu’s north shore that specializes in creating a personalized experience you’ll love from start to finish. Loulu Palm has an impressive amount of rental options available, letting you customize practically every aspect of your day. You’re able to book the villa for 12 hours at a time, though you can add additional hours for a fee, and booking multiple days back to back will lower your rate.

The venue also can host up to 150 guests, has a team of vendors for you to choose from if you need some help deciding, and an excellent team of staff on site to ensure that your day runs as smoothly as possible! To book Loulu Palm simply fill out their contact form and within 24 hours they’ll be in touch with you to reserve your date and start the planning process.

Kaimea Estates

Our next wedding villa on Oahu is Kaimea Estates, which is on the south end of the island near Waikiki. Kaimea Estates is incredible as it feels like you’re completely removed from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu and off in your own private paradise, all the while being only a 10 minute drive from the city! The venue is ideal for smaller gatherings, with a max guest limit of 60. With limited parking available you’ll have to book a shuttle service for the majority of your guests, which is thankfully simple with the venue being located so close to Honolulu. Fill out the contact form for Kaimea Estates to get your date reserved so you can begin the planning process with their assistance.

Oahu Wedding Villas and Venues

Our third location is none other than Oahu Wedding Villas and Venues, located on the island’s north shore! This venue is the perfect option for couples that are looking for the villa experience but want to have a larger celebration. The villa can host up to 250 guests, making it the go to option for those looking for a large wedding. The villa offers the full getaway experience, with a pool on site and multiple rooms for you and your wedding party members to stay in as well as a plethora of amenities for the day itself. You really can’t go wrong with this space! Head to their contact page to book this space for your wedding day celebrations.

There are of course plenty of other wedding villas throughout the island of Oahu, and even more on the other islands, each with their own unique setting, style, and experience! I’m so glad that these venues are becoming more common throughout the islands as they really do give couples a totally new way to enjoy their wedding day here on the islands! As always, be sure to check out my blog for more wedding planning info and inspiration, and if you’re looking to book me as your wedding photographer make sure you send an inquiry through my contact page.
