The stunning Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is one of the best resorts among the Hawaiian Islands, and arguably one of the best in the world. Featured in the HBO hit show White Lotus, and located on our stunning island of Maui, this is one of my top recommendations for couples planning a wedding or honeymoon on the Hawaiian Islands, or for families looking to get away and spend some time in paradise. My family and I took a trip to stay at this beautiful resort last holiday season and we LOVED everything about our experience, which is why I wanted to create a resource for those looking to vacation in this tropical paradise I call home. That’s why I put together your vacation guide for staying at the Four Seasons Resort Maui!
About Our Stay
My family and I have firsthand experience staying at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea! During our most recent visit we spent three full days at the resort and had THE BEST TIME together. Everything from the food, to the setting, and the activities available at the resort all combine to create a one of a kind experience that’s impossible not to love. This is a resort that you could quite literally never leave during your entire vacation, there’s just that much to do here! So let’s take a look at everything you need to know about the Four Seasons Resort Maui.
Planning the Logistics
Ok, really quickly before we get into everything that makes the Four Seasons Resort Maui so special, we need to take a look at the logistics of planning your stay here. The good news is that it is incredibly simple! Maui’s Kahului Airport is located on the north shore of the island, and while the Four Seasons Resort is on the south side of Maui, it is only around a 30 minute drive to get there from the airport.
As far as when you should plan your trip there’s a few things to keep in mind. First is that the months of April through September are going to be the driest in terms of rain. Some of the most popular months for tourism fall in this range though as tons of families love to travel to the islands during the months of summer vacation. Winter is also a busy time of year in terms of tourism, so you’ll want to book your stay further in advance if you plan to come during these times. The good news is that even during the rainy season on the islands, the rain usually doesn’t last all that long anyway, so it shouldn’t be too big of an issue if you do decide to come during this time of year!
What The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea Offers
Ok so now that we’ve gotten the logistics out of the way we can get into the fun stuff, what makes the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea such an amazing place to stay!
Variety of Rooms Available
The first thing that I want to mention is the sheer variety of rooms that are available for you to book. The Four Seasons Maui has rooms for practically any and every size family or friend group to enjoy. From simpler rooms with a single king size bed and sofa bed, to massive 3 bedroom suites, no matter what you’re looking for the resort has a room to fit your needs! In addition to the stunning and luxurious rooms themselves, your stay can be elevated further thanks to the resort’s exclusive club floor and Complete Suite experience.
Complete Suites offer you a complete package for your stay, like the name suggests. This service is a part of some of the resort’s higher level suites, and includes services such as a personal assistant and dedicated staff, round trip airport transportation, a complementary Peloton bike, access to the club floor, and MUCH more! As for the club floor, it is a private floor accessible to only 26 select rooms and suites of the resort. This club floor includes dedicated club staff that can help with activity planning and more, all day access to the club lounge, and access to the exclusive club lounge’s food and beverages. I can’t recommend either of these options enough as they really take your experience to the next level.
Food and Drinks
Speaking of food and beverages, the Four Seasons Resort Maui has some of our favorite food on the island. To start off the day we’d usually hit up the buffet, but you can also have breakfast brought to your room, your private lanai, or even while you’re on the beach! This goes for other meals of the day as well! After breakfast we’d usually head over to the Beachwalk Cafe which has THE best espresso. Lunch would usually come around the time where we were hanging out at the pool as a family, which meant we’d most often head to one of the resort’s Pool Bar’s for lunch. The undisputed favorite of our family are the nachos which are divine!
Dinner time would lead us to a few of the different options you can find at the Four Seasons Resort Maui, each as delicious as the last. First up is SPAGO, which is simply fantastic Hawaiian fusion cuisine. There’s also Duo Steak and Seafood who as you may have guessed specialize in wonderful steak and seafood options. There’s also the newer Ferraro’s, which while they were closed on our past visit we have eaten there before and absolutely loved their Italian food! Last but not least is the Lobby Lounge, which Jay and I were able to sneak out to for some drinks and a little solo date night!
Incredible Experiences
There’s more to the Four Seasons Resort Maui than its incredible rooms and fabulous food options, a LOT more! A huge aspect of what makes this resort special is the activities they have available for you to enjoy during your stay. There are so many different activities to choose from, each with their own appeal so there really is something here for everyone. During our last stay we did a morning paddle out into the ocean at sunrise which was spectacular! Our kids also had a blast in the ‘Kids For All Seasons’ program which is both fun and educational. The Whale Watching experience is another fam favorite, though it is only available during whale season.
Some of these experiences, like the morning ocean paddle and many others, are complimentary. Others such as a helicopter tour are an additional fee, but SO worth it! Another thing I want to note is the availability of these activities. Some have limited spaces available, the morning ocean paddle again being an example, and so you’ll want to make an early reservation for all the activities you want to partake in.
Pools and the Beach
It wouldn’t be a vacation in Hawaii without spending some time at the pool and beach! This is yet another area that the Four Seasons Resort Maui excels at. The resort itself is right on Wailea beach which gives you easy access for any of the beachside/ocean activities, or just a little R&R in the sand.
You may not even want to head to the beach though, as the pools that the resort has are all fantastic. There are three different options for pools, one that is adults only, one that is kids only, and a main pool for the whole family to enjoy. Both the adult and main pools have a swim up bar attached to them, and the main pool also has hot tubs available for you to use. Finally there are plenty of cabanas and other lounge spaces to enjoy, rounding out the entire space with everything you could need!
Sports and Fitness
As if that wasn’t enough for you to enjoy while at the Four Seasons Resort Maui, there are also a ton of ways to stay active through their fitness programs and facilities. My personal favorite is the open air cardio space, but our family go-to was the tennis court! There’s also a weight room with 24 hour access, yoga classes, e-bike rentals, and a whole lot more. You can even hire a personal trainer for your stay to guide you through different fitness routines throughout your time at the resort.
Oh, I almost forgot the three, yes THREE, golf courses that are practically in the backyard of the resort! The Blue, Gold, and Emerald golf courses offer different difficulty levels to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. There’s no need to bring your clubs if you don’t want to as the facility offers club rentals. You can also sign up for golf lessons to improve your play, and there’s even a Top Golf suite for when the weather isn’t letting you get out on the actual course.
Other Things to Note
I know this is a lot of info already, but there’s still SO much more I could praise the Four Seasons Resort Maui on. For instance, I hardly mentioned the incredible service staff of the resort, which also includes 28 concierge members. I also left out the spa, different cultural events, art exhibit, salon, boutique shops, and the Malama program which is a super cool volunteer effort where guests can give back to the island! Finally, the article wouldn’t be complete without me giving a bit of praise to the resort as a wedding venue. Anyone that’s been following me may remember my wedding venue feature on the Four Seasons Resort on Oahu, and it’s safe to say that the Maui resort is equally as impressive as a wedding venue!
I honestly could keep going on and on about the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, but honestly some things are better left to be experienced firsthand. One thing I do recommend for your vacation to Maui though is something unrelated to your stay at the Four Seasons Maui, and that’s booking a family session! A family session like the Berg’s session or the Cox’s session is a fantastic way to preserve some of your favorite memories from your trip to paradise. If you do intend to book a family session while here in Hawaii be sure to head to my contact page so we can get your date reserved!
