When you think of a destination wedding in Hawaii the first thing to come to your mind is likely something along the lines of a beachfront venue with palm trees swaying overhead. While there are many spots like this, and some of which happen to be my favorites, the wedding venue we’ll be covering in this article is a special one as it offers a totally unique setting for couples to enjoy! Today’s wedding venue is the gorgeous La Pietra on the island of Oahu. This all girls school happens to have the most stunning campus that feels like a European villa taken straight out of the Italian countryside! It’s one of the most brilliant wedding venues I’ve had the chance to document, and I’m so excited to share more about what makes this space so wonderful!

La Pietra Then and Now
Even though La Pietra is now among my favorite wedding venues on the island of Oahu, the building’s main function is that of an all-girls private school! This hasn’t always been the case though, as La Pietra was originally the home of Walter Dillingham. Built in 1919, La Pietra served as the home for the Dillingham family for 40 years before being given to Punahau Schools, who would eventually sell it to Hawaii School for Girls in 1969. Since then, Hawaii School for Girls at La Pietra has expanded and updated throughout the years to provide their students with a top of the line private school experience, all while keeping the Tuscan villa style of the estate intact!

What Makes La Pietra Such a Phenomenal Wedding Venue
A Distinct and Unique Style
La Pietra is quite literally a wedding venue like none other on the island of Oahu. The unique style and distinct Tuscan villa architecture of the venue provide a magical backdrop for your wedding day. There are still palm trees swaying overhead to remind you that you’re in Hawaii, but aside from that it does truly feel as though you’ve been transported to the Italian countryside for your wedding day. The pristine landscaping, gorgeous architecture, stunning detailing, and vine covered walls of the venue all make for a simply breathtaking and classy setting for any wedding day.

An Amazing Location
Something that makes La Pietra an incredibly appealing wedding venue on Oahu, aside from the remarkable setting, is the prime location of the school itself. La Pietra is located in Honolulu, minutes away from the neighborhood of Waikiki where many of Oahu’s best resorts are located. This is great for a number of reasons. For starters it makes it SO simple for couples and their guests as they’re able to fly directly into Honolulu and get to their resort and the venue with ease. It also gives couples a TON of options when it comes to getting ready spaces in Honolulu and Waikiki, as there are none on site at La Pietra.

You Can Craft the Wedding Day You Want
When it comes to creating the wedding day itself, Oahu’s La Pietra gives couples a ton of freedom as a wedding venue. With La Pietra being a private all girls school, weddings are understandably not their main focus. While this can make planning a bit more stressful, it also gives couples an immense amount of freedom in how they craft their wedding day. From the timeline, to the vendors they choose, to the spaces of La Pietra that they choose to celebrate in, there’s a lot of room to make this already unique wedding venue feel even more distinct and personal to each couple! La Pietra is also capable of hosting celebrations of up to 200 guests, though smaller gatherings feel just as perfect here as these larger celebrations.

A One of a Kind Experience
La Pietra truly does offer a one of a kind experience as a wedding venue, something that is hard to come by on Oahu as it’s home to SO many amazing venues. La Pietra is the real deal though, and even though they may not have as much wedding experience as the more traditional wedding venues of the island, the setting, experience, and style of the school is easily enough to make it one of THE best options on the island!
