Julia + Tristan | Sunrise Oahu Hawaii Engagement Session 

Engagement session season is here! It’s not just a season of breathtaking photos and save-the-dates creation. It’s also a season of getting to know your photographer (and your photographer getting to know you!) before your wedding day arrives! But as a destination photographer, I don’t always get the opportunity to photograph my couples before the big day. So, when Tristan and Julia, a couple of Hawaii locals, reached out to me to photograph their Oahu engagement session as well as their Maui wedding, I was ecstatic! 

The west coast of Oahu is one of my favorite places for Hawaii engagement sessions or elopements, and Makua is always my go-to. The colors here are incredible, with the deep green mountains and picturesque blue ocean. And bonus: it is a dream for both sunrise and sunset. 

Our morning started early as we spent a few hours at sunrise hanging out on the beach. Early morning sessions are perfect, especially in touristy areas, because the time alone gives everyone the chance to get their nervous jitters out without strangers watching. We threw on their favorite Spotify playlist, and my camera started clicking. From intimate moments cuddled up with each other to playful piggy back rides and running through the ocean, we had the best morning documenting their love!  They laughed until they cried, and on our way back to the cars, we couldn’t stop going on about how much fun we all had. And at the end of the day, that’s my biggest goal.

I believe your Hawaii engagement session should be centered entirely around the personalities of you and the love of your life. It should be stress-free and FUN!
